This is worth the hour of your time to listen to one of the most valuable economist in our time. This was a conference in front of a bunch of Mortgage Bankers in Vegas at the peak of the boom. Peter Schiff did not pull any punches and really laid out not only the real estate problem but actually the problem in America in general since about 1880 to present. His premise is that we have somehow got it in our head that we can export very little and consume at this point 25% of the world’s output and think that this is sustainable. My favorite story he tells is about the modern American and 4 others stranded on an Island and how Peter describes there roles compared to how our system works today.
